To connect digitally your graphics card would need a DVI (digital video interface) output. If your card only has an ouput that looks like this:

then it is an analog (svga) output. A DVI output would look something like this (there's a couple variations):

Looks as if mine is analogue. Although, apart from the small multi pin socket you have kindly illustrated, it has a round plug hole. I suspect that is just an alternative to the other - or might it be a TV output socket, or an svideo output. If so, I presume that this would not help my new screen (which, using the analogue, is miles better than my old monitor!!0

Although using DVI is an improvement over analogue, from everything I've seen it's not worth buying a new graphics card just for the digital output alone.

Agree with Falcon, it's S-video out.
