malware? Ok, I'm learning:
"Malware" or, more correctly, "malicious software" is a term which is applied to cover the entire gamut of "hostile" software, like Viruses, Trojan Horses and Worms. The alt.comp.virus faq uses the term, but does not define at; lycos defines it as follows:
Short for malicious software. Software designed specifically to damage or disrupt a system, such as a virus or a Trojan Horse
Unfortunately, this definition is lacking in several ways, and leads us to one of the primary difficulties in the anti-malware world: lack of clear definition. This is not for want of trying - the issue is that whether a program is "malware" or not is in the mind of the person executing the code.
I'm knocking on my head (wood) for I've never had a virus,
trojan, worm, whatever. Lucky? I don't think so.
I don't use IRC (I don't chat) and Netzero must scan mail at the server for none get through to me. I do not receive spam.
I use to remove viruses all the time when customers were
passing infected flops around but I don't do that anymore.
Safe surfing!
