A7VX8 and RAID drivers
Hi guys,
I was showing a friend how to set up RAID on my motherboard. Well, I hooked up a hard drive and showed him how to set up a disk array. I then disconnected the drive and rebooted. Now every time windows starts, it detects a RAID device, but the drivers wont install. I can disable and remove the device, but it pops up in hardware detection at startup every time.
There doesn't appear to be a way to shut the thing off (or even get into the RAID BIOS) with no drives attached.
I was wondering if anyone else experienced and solved this problem. The INF file for the driver is lodged in protected storage as well, that might have something to do with the problem.

In my (Award) BIOS there's a setting for the RAID controllers under "Peripheral components", with 2 settings, one for "Onboard Raid/ATA device" which can be set to Enabled or Disabled, and one for "Controller function" which can be set to IDE or RAID. If you don't want any drive attached, then see if you've got an option to disable the controller.

My board is the same model and on boot up checks for an installed drive on the array,as there are no drives it does not install a driver.
Is this what you are refering to?

Yeah, I think what I will try tonight is putting a drive on it to activate the BIOS for the controller so I can get in and delete any RAID's, also I will check the BIOS again to see if I can disable the ATA controller (Super, confirm do you have the A7V8X?).
Thanks guys

No, I have Gigabyte mobos in both my PC's. But the BIOS is the BIOS regardless of mobo. I would be very surpried if any BIOS wouldn't have an option to turn off the RAID controller.
