Game Freezing Problem
I just recently bought my computer and built it from scratch.
My specs are:
Windows XP Pro: Fully Updated
Asus a7v333 motherboard
AMD athlon XP 2100+
Asus V3800 tnt 2 32 MB video card: Updated with Nvidias Universal drivers
On Board Sound using: CMedia CMI8738/C3DX PCI audio
Samsung 2700 512 mb DDR ram
Logitech Mouseman Wheel: Using their universal adapters cuase its old
Direct X 9
My problem is any time i try to run games such as Black and White, Thief and Wolfenstein 3, the game starts but shortly after it freezes. The sound does that skipping sound to show it locked up.
How can i fix this?

Fixed it
I had AGP in the bios set to 4x so lowered it to 1x and now the games are working without freezes.

perhaps your videocard's 4x isn't supported by your newer motherboard. My MSI I845 Pe doesn't support some of the older cards like the ATI Xpert 2000 or the Matrox G400.

Still not working
Well my solution only seems to prolong the suffering.
It still keeps freeing on me but takes longer to freeze. Instead of freezing near the beggininng it now takes about 5 -10 minutes to frreeze with AGP at 1X

If you intend to do a lot of 3D gaming you will be happier if you ditch the TNT2 and get something more modern. The core of that card has to be at least 4 years old. There are many fast cards available for relatively low cost. I'm still using a Geforce2 and I haven't yet found a game it couldn't run.
