What A Mess!
Had a VIRUS that slipped thru AVG and McAfee BOTH!
Tried to go back to a previous setup after the Virus was deleted. WIN XP PRO will not completely initialize so some files are obviousy damaged.
Lucky for me I had my old Harddrive as D:\ and WIN 98se was loaded because I could no longer boot to WIN XP PRO on C:\
I reversed the boot up in the BIOS (00--->01).
Now my c: is d: and d: is c:
I was wonderig if I can copy WIN XP PRO over itself on the original harddrive or if WIN 98se will redirect the install onto it's own disk?
Basically, will I be able to direct the install (setup) to the Disk of my choice?
Thanks.

Yes, you'll get the choice of where to install XP, that won't be a problem.

Didn't give me a choice and it wiped out my installation of WIN 98SE even though I instructed it to create a new install and preserve my old files.

Well, my files are still on the drive, altho they're compressed by NTFS but the icons are missing on the desktop and I've lost my Favorites File in IE.
Live and learn, I suppose.
Maybe I should've used FAT instead of NTFS, huh?

When you install XP, you get the option to choose new install and keep files, yes...but around that same part of setup, it also has a part that lets you choose the location of the installation...If i remember, its not a very obvious option.
