Error Message
Hi Everyone! I'm hoping someone might be able to help me here. I posted this on the hardware forum but didn't get any results. Last night I got an error message on my CD Rom after I'd inserted a CD I'd burned with Data. I didn't label it and I was going to see what was on it and I double clicked on "My Computer" then double clicked on Drive D and then got this error pop up:
D:\ Not Accessible. Incorrect Function.
My Burned Music CD's play fine as do my game CD's I've bought.
I was just labeling blank CD's a couple of days ago this very same way and did not get any error messages. It opened up and showed me what was on the CD as normal. Sometimes I get a blank CD mixed in and it will show it's empty.
So last night, I was perplexed when this error message kept coming up. I tried different CD's and I went into Device manager and there were no conflicts, but I didn't think there would be since the CD Rom is being recognized since it's playing music and games. I went in to CD ROM properties and it showed it was working properly and that all the drivers were current. I've not changed or tweaked anything and I'm the only user on my system. My system is about a year old.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

are you using roxio5 as your burn program, there is a patch @ roxio to correct that error message.

If you are using Roxio CD Creator with XP, you should be using 5.1 or higher. Here's Microsoft's KB on it:
"There are known compatibility issues between Windows XP and versions of Easy CD Creator earlier than version 5.1."

Hi......No....I don't use Roxio even though it came factory installed on my computer. I bought Acoustica MP3 burn and labeler program. I've been using it for a couple of years and have had good luck with it and have kept it updated. All my CD's that have been burned have been burned using this program and the music ones work fine and as recently as 2 days ago, the data ones did. Thats why I'm thinking it's a glitch in settings somewhere.

Are you sure you "closed the session"? If not, you could get that "Not Accessible. Incorrect Function" error.
Try to "look" at the CD from your burning program and if that works, use the burningprogram to "close" the CD. After that it should be readable in "My Computer". Use the help-funcyion of your burningprogram to find out how to "close" a CD, cause it differs from program to program.

Hi....sorry it's taken so long to get a reply posted back here. Yes....I make sure I close my burn session each time. These CD"s I'm talking about were probably burned atleast a year or more ago.....not recently. I was just recently going through the unlabeled ones to see what was on them so I could label them. I had been through them once before while hunting for a specific one and did not have time to label them at that particular time, so I know they do open on this computer. That's why it's so frustrating right now to find I cannot access them. Sorry I had not made this clear at first.
