To perform a clean install:
1) Make sure CD-Rom is first Boot Device in your Bios
2) Insert your Windows XP CD and restart your computer (When "Hit any Key to Boot From CD-Rom" appears on screen, hit any key on keyboard to invoke CD-Rom boot)
3) Press F8 to agree the Licence Agreement.
4) Press ESC to continue a fresh copy without repair
5) Press D to delete the partition, press L to confirm.
6) Then press Enter to install Windows XP.
First, I want to thank you for all your responses.
Hi ecross,
Since my hard drive was partitioned into many drives by Win XP OS. Now I just want to format my drive c: without touching other drives because I have many things on other drives which I don't want to delete them. So what other instruction so I don't have to delete all my partitions?
Thank you.
You should be able to delete specific partitions with XP's setup program. It's been awhile since I used it, but I'm pretty sure you can select an existing partition to format (it should show up as C:\). Any time you work with partitions or formatting, you should backup your stuff just in case something goes wrong :)
THank you. I have formatted my hard drive and I am able to delete one partition.
