Amd Fsb
I've just put together a AMD XP 2000+ processor and a MSI KT3 Ultra2 mobo. What FSB speed should be set for the CPU? Currently it's set to 133MHZ.
I know it probably says what speed the CPU is running at on the post screen (to indicate if it's set correctly), but this thing boots so fast I can't read it.

What's the multiplier??? Mult x FSB = Processor speed, generally... 133 is correct by the way, for a stock (read no OC) 2000+
You can also press the pause key to stop the progression of the post thus you'll be able to see it..........

Abhoth, thanks for that. Didn't know about multipliers till now. A search found the multiplier to be 12.5 so 1666MHZ/12.5=133.

If you want to be able to see the post screen? Soon as you hear the post beep, tap the delete key to get into cmos. Once there,go to the boot menu(for award bios). Disable the fast post and it will count the memory until either it's through counting or you hit the Esc key. Also, on the advanced menu, it will show your CPU speed default, unless you have it set to "user define". On this setting,it will show multiplier choices and fsb options. i.e. 10.5 X 133 = 1396.5 . Usually the default for a 1.4GB CPU...
edit: whoops,,was typin' while you posted. But yep,,you got the idea...8-)
