Ssdpsrv.exe is the file that starts the UPnP server on WindowsME systems. This service comes standard with the WindowsME installation.
For even more information about UPnP, check out
this article.
To turn UPnP off the easy way (highly recommended) getUnplug 'N Pray.

It's possible that SSDPSRV and PLUG and PLAY (network) can open you to attacks, backdoor, etc. DISABLE them if you do not use them
This site can help disable plug-n-play http://grc.com/unpnp/unpnp.htm
or
another way to remove SSDPSRV.exe is to go to the Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs, - Windows Setup tab - select Communications - View Details button. Then scroll down list and UN-check the "Universal Plug and Play" option. Then click OK - OK and this should remove all of the Universal Plug and Play which you have no need for.
Just a little info on the file:

Wow! CornerPocket and I must have hit the post button within seconds of each other.
So there you have it, scarecrowdr...more information than you probably ever wanted. Get the feeling you should get Unplug 'N Pray? (Like all of Gibson's stuff, it's tightly written..only 22K) :D
