How can I prevent this
What causes the following message when using Internet Explorer?
"Domain Security
A script launched from one page has attempted to access information from a page from another domain . Since this could be used to obtain private information, it is not allowed."
Is it because I have expired certificates?
The Internet Explorer options list checkboxes for Verisign and THAWTE but when I view them, they all appear to be expired.
How can I get certificates that are not expired?
Is this message related to JAVA code execution?

Might want to do a virus scan, but first update your AV program.
The to double check it go a Google search www,google.com for Housecall. then run it.
Look in add remove for new programs you do not recognize, startup folder also.

I'm guessing everything to do with 3.1 has expired.
But that's just me.

Thanks for the reply,
Don't have an option named Add/Remove programs.

The first link looked promising until I read that it will only work for IE 3.0x running on 95 or better machines. I have it running on a Windows 3.1 machine. Thanks anyway.
The second link brings up a message which says
ERRORS The attempt to load .....the page...failed

I keep getting this message.
Anyone know why?

Bumping again.
Anyone know about this?

Sure wish I did. Can't seem to find anything about it on the 'net either. :(
Hopefully someone else will jump in here soon.

First off check the system date in the control panel. Are you running a Y2K compatability hardware BIOS or something like that. That may explain why the computer thinks the certs are expired. Also, is your browser capable of using 128-bit encryption. The old standard was 40-bit. You may be able to determine this in Help and About in IE.
I can't recall if 3.0 had any security features you can disable.

Thanks Vernon and Pat,
Pat,
The system date is current in DOS, not sure if that guarantees that it is under windows control panel and not home now.
Not sure exactly what is meant by "Y2K compatability hardware BIOS" but the date in BIOS rolled over correctly in year 2000, but I was playing with the date in BIOS before 2000 to check for this!
The system uses 40-bit encryption (think an upgrade to 128-bit encryption is possible)and there are some security settings in IE 3.03.
None, Minimal, Medium and High or something like that.
I wonder if any old Newsgroup postings would have information on the cause of this. I am not set up for Newsgroups but there must be something on it somewhere.

L.King is pretty close to the possible solution. The problem is, as you say, expired certificates. The verisign site, unfortunately, is 128-bit encrypted. So I think you are stuck there.
(I read the site, you had to install the certificates BEFORE they expired in 1999.) looks like MS took down all the Y2K info on thier web site :(.
Are you having this problem ONLY with HTTPS sites or just normal browsing? If it is all browsing, you might change your security level to NONE and try again.
(oh, PS, why didn't you upgrade to Win95 eight years ago? hehe)

Thanks Pat,
I'm having the problem so far only at the virtual doctor site. The message appears and after clicking OK, it appears 4 more times. Each time I click OK. Finally it does not appear any more, and everything seems normal again. Will try your suggestion soon.
Upgrade? Wanted to learn all I could about windows 3.1 first, and never had the need...Maybe soon.

Based on my experience Windows 3.x is pretty much a goner as of when Win2K came out (in 2000). I spent about 10 years in the DOS world, but in 1994, when Win94 came out, I upgraded first thing. I can still chop commands in DOS like a Pro, you won't miss it, trust me. My first Win95 computer was a Packard Bell, 486/33SX with 8MB memory and a 2X Panasonic CD ROM. It actually worked faster in 9x than in 3.1.
I think your problem is related to cookies (as VDr is not a secure site). If it is only VDr, then I would be counting my blessings :). But, no online banking until you make it to the 21st Century ok :d.

Update,
The message went away after editing the IE options for the items below.
Cleared the "play sounds" option on the general tab.
Cleared the checkbox on the security tab for "Enable Plugins"
Cleared the checkbox on the security tab for "Run ActixeX Scripts"
Not sure which solved it but glad to be rid of it.
