I just wanted to pass along this link about the messenger service (not Microsoft Messenger, but the messenger service) and how it's now being used as a vehicle for spam delivery to unprotected systems.
My apologies to the moderators if this is inappropriate for the XP group, but I thought it might be applicable to a number of members that frequent this forum.
Just a reminder that this service can be disabled using services.msc from the Run dialog.

Although, I've been to your website, I haven't gotten very far in my reading........so much valuable info there, it will take time to read it all........:D
If you disable messenger services you won't get alerts from programs that rely on them...i.e. antivirus programs , etc.
to me this is annoyance anyway.......because unlike some people I update my virus every other day.......so I don't need some piece of software telling what I should do........my momma didn't get away with that even........:D

What happens when it's trying to tell you it is intercepting a virus or has found one......and you have messenger services turned off?
Many programs use messenger services and with it turned off you won't know when the program is trying to tell you something.
question here.......how can I get a virus other than email?.....I don't open any with attachments........I also have an IMAP account, not POP3.......and my outlook is set up to not show preview pane.....however, I use ZA, will turning this off affect that?........oops........I guess that was two questions.....:D
