Welcome to VirtualDr:)
You can help get them there by registering your site with the search engines.
Keeping them there is awhole other issue. Quailty of content can work wonders.
just curious because i have done that and a few come and they dont post.
Hi xpguy
Along with Steve R Jones, great advice, I'd like to add that putting your site to the search engines is an ongoing process. You'll have to play around with your meta tags to pull yourself up in the listings.
Best traffic you can get, is word of mouth. Add the address to the bottom of every forum you belong to, in your signature. Add it to the bottom of all emails that you send. (Again....in your signature)
I've not seen your board, but would advise you to keep tweaking it to find topics of interest to the audience you're trying to attract.

I have quite a few sites on my server including two forums and two chats...
I use SubmitWolf and SubmitDummy (easier) to submit and metabot to create metatags...
I show up on most of the engines and am at the top,,, #1,,, usual for a few of them...
Both of my forums,,, My yahoo groups as well,,, have members and no most of them do'nt post... There's no real way to make them do it... I even have a local club that no one posts to...
Just hang in there and if the content is right it will grow...
You may be expecting to much. For example, in our Windows 98 forum right now, the main page lists 25 threads. These have been viewed 4,008 times but there have only been 203 responses, which is a mere 5.06%.
Keep in mind that Google, for example, doesn't use metatags. To oversimplify somewhat, Google uses the how many links there are to your site for its rankings.
Other search engines are also using the "links to" method for rankings because of all the sites (porn sites apparently being the worst offenders) which have used bogus metatags.
