Floppy problems under Lycoris

I have been running Lycoris Desktop/LX for about a week now, and I am very impressed with it. It doesn't use much hard drive space and runs really well on machines with older processors.
Only problem is that if I delete files from a floppy disk I put the disk into another linux machine and the files are still there (even if I empty the trash bin after deleting), and when I copy files to a floppy disk on another machine and put it in the machine with Lycoris it doesn't recognise that there is any files there.
Any ideas?
I would also be interested in hearing what other people think who have tried Lycoris.

Are you having these problems from the GUI, command line, or both?

Thanks for taking the time to reply, the problem happens in the GUI and at the command line.
I have been talking to some other people that I know run Lycoris and they say it is a problem with the distribution itself and that they all have the same problem.
Oh well, look like it is time to find out the Red Hat CDs again :)

In basic terms, an ext3 filesystem is an ext2 filesystem with a journal. When you created the floppy on the Lycoris system, did it create an ext2 or ext3 filesystem on that floppy? And if the floppy was created with an ext3 fs, does the other linux box have ext3 support built into the kernel, such as to use the journal?

I don't know enought about ext3 to say that this is the cause, but I would assume it might be a possibility that you might want to investigate. -mk

Thanks for posting Mike, but the file system of the floppy disks were vfat (windows) but I have tried formatting the floppy disk ext2 but the problem is still there. Also the networking support needs a little more work. Looks like I might wait around for the next release before trying again.

Yeah, linux/bsd most of the time uses floppies that are formated msdos/vfat.

If you can install mtools, I say do that and give it a try.

Thanks sourdaisy but I have ordered a copy of Redhat 7.3 and I am going to run that once it arrives. The version of Lycoris that I was running was 1.5 I will wait until the next version of it is released before I come back to it.
