Hosed XP

My brother just hosed his WinXP machine. Tried 'system restore', but it didn't help anything.

Is there a way to run the equivelent of 'scanreg /restore' in XP?

Hit F8 during boot-up and choose to load the last good config.

zipulrich, posted this question on another board, and then posted back saying the problem was solved.

Turns out ... a further restore point ended up working .
