Firewire Card Problems!

Why can't I get Win 98 SE to find my firewire card to network to my new
laptop? Device manager says the card is fine, which it is, because I use it
for digital video capture. But device manager can't find a 1394 network
adapter driver, nor can I. XP on the laptop created a floppy to use on the
desktop machine, but after it restarts Windows it complains that it can't
finish.

The laptop acknowledges the card in the Win 98 computer.

Anything to do besides install XP? I guess I *could* use either the
Ethernet or wireless LAN that's built into my laptop, but gee, I want 1394.

Any ideas on how to get it to recognize the firewire card?
