AMD 1800+ cooling
Hello Everybody.....
I have just upgraded my athlon 1200 to a xp 1800+ and I want to get my temp down. I am running at 50c unloaded and 59 loaded. I already have two case fans installed. I used to run with a dragon orb 3. This was a wicked cooler but very noisy. I use now a cooler from spire. Runs smooth but I like freezing temps!! Iam not yet ready to invest in liquid cooling...does anyone have any good tips for a quiet yet well functioning cooler??

My 2 front case fans are low and blows in.
My 2 rear fans are high, near ps and blowing out.
I use Artic Silver 3 paste between the cpu and hsf.
Have all my ribbons and cables tied to the side and out of the airflow.
Might check the cfm rating of your present hsf.
Also, have you removed the stamped screen from infront of the intake fan. I do and it is good for a couple C lower.
May even need to remove some of the inside of the front cover also.
Last, you can add a side fan blowing onto the hsf.
Just to help, this shows airflow;

I use this case. Chieftech Dragon blue
My temps according to the bios runs at about 35-40 celcius....(Thats the CPU Temp)
The system temp runs about 20-25 celcius.
The dual fan Power Supply really helps.
Also take a look at these Drive bay Fans Excellant cooling additions...

Thanks dodge, I am looking into some new cases, but not everything is easy to find here in holland!! They are just starting around here modifying cases to get them to preform better, so hopefully they wil have more high tech cases soon here.
