Monitor
I have WIN2000 OS, Office 2000 Pro, Monitor-Decaview, G380+, .25mm Dot Pitch, with Rage Fury Pro/xpert 2000 Pro, manufactured by ATI Technology.
Today I was adjusting the darkness of the color on my display settings so I could better view some recently taken picture files--all of a sudden the screen flashed and faded to black--I thought my system had crashed but it seems it was my settings for the monitor. I had a picture on my background that is distorted and looks "mesh-like", the icons are very large but are very clear. on the desktop, Windows is okay and I am able to use Office 2000 too. And, the Internet is pretty clear and clipart too. Some pictures there are "mesh-like too". When I tried to adjust the display settings again I got this message "the display control panel is unable to change the display settings due to an unexpected error from the display drivers. When I went into the device manager, it said the drivers were working properly. Can someone please help me?

Do you have the latest upgrade for those drivers that are compatible with Win2k? Might want to research for better ones at ATI... HERE
Also, have you tried resetting your monitor to default settings from it's menu?
Just a' couple pennies worth...

I did go to ATI and downloaded and installed the latest driver but I don't know what you mean by "resetting your monitor to default settings from it's menu". Could you tell me how to do that? Thanks.

There should be some buttons,or a panel of them on the front/bottom of your monitor. It lets you make adjustments for contrast/brightness/vertical size/horizontal size-position etc. .
One of those settings should let you set it back to defaults i.e. "recall" or some such. It also should have a function for "Degause"(de-magnetize).Monitors usually do this automatically on start-up,but that feature will let you do it manually. Might give it a' shot...
