is it possible to use the Via C3 cpus in a system that uses Intel socket 370 cpus?? I saw the Via C3's in Tigerdirect and noticed that they were socket 370s and wondered if they'd work in my system. Are they comparable or worse than Celerons??

does anyone know if you can use Via C3 cpus on an Intel socket 370 fsb 100/133 motherboard??
Those VIA CPU's are, for the most part, slightly souped-up Cyrix chips (yes...they'll fit on your 370). Fairly run of the mill; not a high performer. Mostly good for a light-to medium workload. If you are building a machine for the kids to do gaming and homework, then that VIA chip can be considered in order to keep the costs down. But if you want a good-powered performance machine; steer clear. You'd be better off with a comparable-speed Celeron IMHO.
