mixing wired and wireless segments

Here is the situation...I want to go wireless on my home network......using wireless nics for internet on all 5 machines....but my 2 main machines I want to have a wired segment (probably firewire networking) for data transfers....but use the wireless for internet by using a wireless access point connected to my linksys 4 port router/switch.....what am I going to have to do to tell the 2 machines to use the wired segment to transfer files between these two machines???? I was thinking maybe using the ipx/spx or netbeui protocol only on this connection and using tcp/ip obviously for the intenet on the wireless usb adapters. Operating system is windows 2000 on all machines.

You want the computers networked with Wireless AND wires? The best way to accomplish this would be to create two networks. Lets say network1 would be on the 192.168.0.x and network2 would be 192.168.1.x. You would need to disable any sort of filesharing on network1(wireless) if you just want it for web. If Network1 has NetBIOS over TCP/IP disabled, then it will be forced to use network2 for that.

NetBEUI will make it so you fileshare over either network. Which could potentially be a bad confusing thing.

If I'm understanding this correctly, it will not be that hard.
