ECDC5 crashes
I have ECDC5 Platinum with the 5.1 update and the 5.1 drive update installed. My system crashes when trying to use ECDC data option with a cdrw. I tried backing up the i386 folder XP Home edition folder onto a cdrw on a new Compaq 725US Athlon 1600 1.4ghz laptop and it crashes after copying the files to a temp folder. I have to hold down the power button in order to reboot since cntrl+alt+del doesn't work. Has anyone else had this problem?? The laptop didn't come with a backup copy of XP, only recovery cds and application recovery cds. The i386 folder is the only backup on the harddrive and I wanted to backup that up onto cdrw or cdr.
Specs for laptop:
Athlon 1.4ghz
256mb ddr
20gb harddrive
8x dvdrom/4x4x24 cdburner
16mb S3 card

would updating the aspi drivers also help?? I noticed with an aspi check utility that my laptop has no aspi layer, so I installed the latest aspi driver kit for Win95/NT and it now says that I have Aspi 4.60 installed. Would this allow me to burn backup data??

anybody know what's causing ECDC5 to crash under WinXP??

Have you tried the Roxio Forums?
www.roxio.com > click Support > Main Support Page > Discussion Groups. Scroll down to the bottom of the page for the ECDC Forum.

I've tried the Roxio forums, but they're no help there. I've already tried the steps they recommended.
This is a laptop which was purchased about a week ago, so all of the parts and software installs are new and recent.
would having no aspi layer keep me from successfully burning data in ECDC5?? I'm not using DirectCD, only the data option.
Any other suggestions??
