while using iomega zip to copy some pictures from the net i get the message that my drive is full, when i check resources for the disc it only shows 25% used with 75% free...i ran all diagnostics and everything came up good...hmmm...any ideas??..thanks https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
How many files are on the disk - and are they in directories (folders) or are they just placed on the disk?
If there are too many files (abt. 256), try moving a couple files to the hard drive temporarily, create a directory on the disk, move some of the files into the directory, move the files back to the disk from the hard drive.
thanks cliffh, kinda new to all this...i have been putting pictures on the disc, i think the number of pics is right around the 256 number...correct me if i'm wrong, but i guess that each pic equals one file??..so i need to create directories? help!!!..thanks for the reply.
It's certainly true of a floppy (and also a zip disk I think) that the number of entries in the root directory is limited - i think you found the limit (the limits on the number in a sub-directory is essentially unlimited these days tho' - wasn't always so). As Cliffh suggested delete one or two of the image files in the root directory of the zip (or copy somewhere) to give yourself the room to make a directory (call it pics or something) and move all the image files that are in the root directory to it.

The "root directory" on a zip are all those files NOT under a folder/directory on the disk; all the ones just copied directly onto the disk. If you didn't make a folder/directory on the ZIP disk when you copied those images, then they are all under the root directory.
