RAM Recognition

Help!! What have I missed?? Upgrading the RAM on a friends' PC (IBM PC300GL type 6272).

The IBM Manual states that either EDO DRAM or SDRAM can be used to a maximum of 128Mb, so opted for 2 x 64Mb SDRAM stick 133mhz.

The System POSTed 32MB which is as it was before and runs. I flashed the BIOS in the hope that it might not be suitable, but still get the same.

So the question is what have I missed to get it to recognise the additional RAM?

Have you looked into msconfig/advanced and checked to see if ram was limited to 32MB?

Start, run [type in] msconfig > OK
on the general lower right hit advanced button.
Take check out of limit ram to or change the value.

somehow i doubt changing a setting in windows is going to have any effect on that.

putasolutions, have you checked the BIOS for memory options?

Thanks Vernon, looks like I should read the specs a little more closely. A trip down the store is now on the cards. Wrong Type of RAM!!
