Asus experts,,,help!!

Just installed a new Asus A7v133 board along with Athlon 1.2Gig CPU. This is my third install using the A7v board and have had no probs with others. The glitch concerns the "Asus Probe" software. First time i ran it, it said my CPU temp was 56c just after a cold boot!! Thought,,WTF cause none of my others ran more than 45 or46c with the same HSF and Artic SilverII. Well, i went into bios and checked it and it said temp was 45c?? And the mobo temp was the same as with probe=29c. So, apparently the "probe" prog is not recognizing the CPU temp properly.
My main question is, how to fix this? I can't find an uninstall anywhere for the "probe" program. And the Asus site is "no" help. Would like to try a re-install but how do i get rid of the original? Don't want to just delete the probe folder. With "my" luck it'd probably crash me. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

I've used Asus mo/bo's quite a bit, the A7V is my latest favorite - but I've never installed the Probe software, so can't help with that.

ASUS probe is uninstalled from Add/Remove.
Think you got a bad install. If you install from the cd, might want to try the website this time. The one I am using and it matches the BIOS.

Motherboard Monitor seems ok to me, lots of folks recommend it.

Ya', this kinda has to do with my thread of a few days ago about installing a new Motherboard(Asus A7V133)that is the same as i had, but a few months newer and "not" doing a re-install of the OS. Well, it went fine except for the "probe" thing. And, it made me re-install the drivers for the new SB Live! card.
I didn't have anything for "probe" in the add-remove,so, as Train says, it was probably a funky install. I don't know why i didn't think of it sooner(wanderin' mind?), but i finally remembered and went into Reg Cleaner and found it on the uninstall list. And it uninstalled ok from there. I then installed it from the "new" board's CD, and it still does the same. BIOS shows CPU temp as 45to47c, but the probe in windows says it's 56to59c. Oh well, think i'll go with your suggestion Train and give MBM a shot.

Those software probes do not seem to be all that accurate. Just for your info. And the time it takes you to reboot to BIOS, things do cool down a bit. 11 degrees C I do not accept. Something is flakey somewhere. My book https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Think your right Train. The link you gave to the Exforum board is a good one. Kind'a confirmed my suspicions.
The machine that my other A7V133 went into is almost a dupe of this one hardware wise. Only difference is it's a mid tower and this is a full tower with an 80mm extra exhaust fan up top rear. The other one shows CPU temp in bios just 2 degrees warmer than this one. Gon'na get a Delta high output for the other CPU and will check them against each other just for grins. Only takes a few seconds to restart and go into bios and it shows the same 10to11 degree difference each time i check it there. Using the new Thermalright SK-6 HS with a high output Sunon fan on this machine. So, don't think i'll lose any sleep over the glitch.

You have to watch the air flow in those full towers, kind of bad. Maybe a 120MM input instead of what you have.

Aren't there some mainboards that have their own heat detectors and can simply slow down the CPU when it gets too hot w/o software or drivers? Also, if you have enough fans running, do you really even need to know the temp?

If they are not moving the air, no airflow through the case, you can destroy something.
Have seen posts where this has happened. A bunch anyway.

Most mobo have temp probes for temp detection but generally they don't have regulatory funtion. Some BIOSes have temp regulatory function incorporated (rare.)

WinNT and Win2000 have native temp regulatory function incorporated.

There are also software cooling programs available such as Rain, CPU Idle, KCPU Cooler, etc.

The Asus PC Probe is known to report the wrong (higher) temp. The newer version is supposed to have fixed it (which version do you have?).

I will go by what the BIOS reports.

(As far as I know the temp reports by Sandra 2001 is not accurate either. Not sure about the latest Sandra 2001 te.)

falcon2000, The version i have is: 2.12.09 I just bought the board new and it has the latest Award BIOS "1005a". But. the Asus A7V133 i bought about 5 months ago had the Award BIOS 1004c, but had the same version of "Probe". Do you know if the Asus web site might offer a newer version of Probe? I've been over there, but can't locate one.

Well, after checking the manual, i found the reason why i couldn't find the update at the Asus site. The Asus site said it was for the CUV4X-D board. Found out it is generic and will work on the A7V133 as well.
Wish these Mfg's sites would be a' bit more explanatory. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ It's D/L'ed, but haven't installed yet. Will let you know if it made a difference.

Don't know how true this claim is but here's an interesting reading (2nd article down.)
