Resolved [RESOLVED] What Was So Special About May 7th

At the bottom of http://discussions.virtualdr.com/index.php? it says that the most ever people logged on was 700+ on 7th May.

I vaguely remember that the previous highest count was 269 or so on the 9th May last year I think.

What happened on 7th May to cause so many users ?

Yes...I quit that...I looked too much like a giant Hershey's Kiss and all the neighborhood kids kept following me around.

Wait....I think I found the answer:
On this date (May 7) in 1915: The British ship Lusitania is torpedoed by a German submarine off the Ireland coast; 1,198 people are killed, increasing sentiment in the United States to join World War I.
I think a lot of people remembered that fact and decided to stay indoors and visit VDr in order to avoid any contact with British ships......I would.

Nix is thinking "Why did I even bother?"...

I tried that game before....I finally gave up trying to get more time, so I tried to see how quickly I could die. Got pretty good at it.

I think when vDr deals with up-to-the minute topics first, it does really well in search engines. Particularly when they are presented in a way that uses 2nd and 3rd 'tier' keywords. Examples:
    JonnyB's Piracy Thread
    Windows Media Player 11 Thread
    Invalid Menu Handle Thread

If you get enough of these kinds of threads on the same day, with the right problems around on the web, it could have that effect, right?

Sorry if I'm taking the question too seriously!!!

    Very good all.

Good to see such a simple question bringing out the silliness in some of us.
