ram extension conversion
hi can anyone help me how can i convert a file which has ram as extention to some other extension which can actually play on my windows media player.
i have downloaded a (vedio)song with ram extention but my media player doesn't opens it says some error.

Are you sure it isn't a .rar extension? I've never heard of an extension called ram.

.ram is a Realmedia format. usually meant for streaming but sometimes it's just a regular rm file misnamed. it can contain audio and or video. Much the same as an asf file... an actual ram file is a container that simply has a url in that points to a video or audio file on a server.
So what ymaha wants to do is convert rm to mp3 or record a ram file being streamed to an mp3 file.
If it is an rm file then see if this does what you want.

If the ram file is in fact still a streaming file and not something you've downloaded and is misnamed then you'll need a streaming recorder like audacity..

Please keep in mind that it may be illegal to record streaming media. You should check with the site it's being served from to be sure. Sometimes media is streamed because they don't want you to record it.
