the windows "ticking" sound every 30 seconds or so
About every 30 seconds, the windows "tick" goes off, as if something is opening or i clicked on something, but my computer is not doing anything (that i know of).
In the past, ive also heard some other sounds (besides pukiller's shot gun blast). But these have all gone away after "cleaning" the system.
im slowly going insane, like a bad b rated movie :\
stop the insanity, please?

Check all programs that are running via CTRL+ALT+DELETE or something more sophisticated like the Shareware STARTUPCOP.
By turning of the individual programs you can locate the one creating the "ticking" sounds and investigate from there.
BTW - could it be a stuck key on the keyboard ???
Good Luck

Hi Blue Gazoo,
I noticed that ticking noise before on my computer too. It turned out to be an open copy of IE that I usually leave open for surfing. I occasionally leave it on a site that auto refreshes (like CNN or my webmail). Each time it autorefreshes, it makes that "tick" sound. Hope this helps.
