Doe's anyone know how to disable auto disconnect in win/95

Hi everyone, is there a way to disable auto disconnect in win/95, when my puter sit's idle for 10 or 15 minutes it auto disconnects from internet, this is a problem for me as my isp is having problems & it sometimes takes up to 100 attempts to get on line. Please help, thanks in advance Big John

    Big John,
Go to the Control Panel|Modem and select Properties|Connection tab and take the checkmark off the box that states "Disconnect a call if idle for more than"

Also while in the Control Panel, click the Internet applet and select Connection and under "Connect using a modem" click on Settings and also take the checkmark off there...

My local ISP will disconnect me if there is no exchange (upload or download) of data for 30 minutes. Have tested this many times. Verified by someone I know who works there. Common practice, I guess. Keeps people from connecting then letting connection sit idle for hours at a time. Probably not such a bad idea, considering the growth of web users and the difficulties of ISP's to keep up. I just read that AOL adds 25,000 modems per month just trying to keep up. Amazing!

    Shotsi's right.

Most Isp's have a set time that will disconnect an idle user. The way I avoid disconnection is to either leave my mail app open, which checks for mail every 15 minutes, or run AOL Instant Messenger, which surveys it's network periodically.

    Happy Holidays,
    Rob
