Hi fisavage'
You have to have the host give you their access number in order to give it to the people you get your domain name from. You can ask geocities, but I don't believe they allow users to have a domain name. There are other free sites, like Homestead, that do, so look around a lottle before you settle on one.
Good Luck,

You can use your existing geocities site with a new domain if your domain name registrar provides you with domain forwarding facility like webhost4all.com;
when u register a domain with webhost4all you get a contol panel to edit your domain settings. here you have 2 options url forwarding and url frame. in url forwarding the visotor will be forwarded to your geocities account the address bar will have the geocities path. if you choose the url frame option the address bar will have your domain name.
