Creating web page / Pictures

I have created a personal web page but the problem is this: all the pictures that I post on my web page, they take forever to appear when downloading the page. They're all .jpg and they're rather small.

How can I accelerate this?

When you say the pictures are small, are they small in dimension or small in FILE SIZE.
A "thumbnail" size picture will still take forever to download if it is not compressed.
When you save the picture using your photo software as jpg format, go to options or advanced or whatever in the save file window and see what settings you have for compression.
