Linux-NT dual boot --one more time.
This is my sad story:
Two drives-- One(4gig) is running win95 and
winNT(WS) harmoniously. The other (2gig) has
Linux installed all by its lonesome.
The Linux drive has a 16meg swap partition.
and the rest is my root partition.
I followed the instructions on the HOWTO
to "peel" my LILO stuff off the root partition and place it where the NT bootloader can use it.
Well, Linux did come up as one of my choices
on the NT boot menu, but when I chose it
I got to LI and then... nothing.
In another HOWTO I read that LI means that
there might be a "geometry mismatch" or that
I tried to move the boot file without running
the map utility(or something like that).
I re-formatted the Linux partition and re-installed Linux and re-peatead the "peel 'n'
move" procedure and then...
I got this "can't load fs on device 08:13"
kernel panic
I panic
booting with bootdisk gets me more of the same.
If you are not crying by now,(or sleeping, or
gone) please point me to the document that
explains the "geometry mismatch" scenario
or the document that talks about the map
utility. Or if you are really nice just give
me the answer to my trouble straight up.
By the way, I am running Caldera's 1.3 dist.
on a AMD P233 with 64Meg Ram. Have CDROM.
I know other people with the same problem
whom I will share the info with... I promise.
Humbly requesting:
yakiboy.
Voila!
