HP Palmtop lx360

I have tried using the Dynalink pcmcia fax data fax modem 1428VQC-T5 33600bps on my HP Palmtop lx360, but although I can send a fax, I cannot connnect to the internet. It will dial up, you can hear the carrier in the background and then the it will step down until all we get is a low tone. Then an error message comes up saying that there was no carrier..

What it sounds like is that the IP gives out a carrier tone, but the pcmcia modem on my palmtop does not reply.

I tried using some different setup strings but to no avail.

Any Ideas?

BTW the modem works fine on a normal notebook computer running windows 95.

i think that i have same modem - but my modem dont know that i don't have dial tone :-( - i cant send fax :-( - can you help me ?
