    Why not?

    I followed this list http://www.microsoft.com/technet/tre...ty/default.asp
    up to ENABLING SECURITY to permir only port 80, no UDP etc...

    When it was time for me to copy some files, I enabled back the shares so I can use a UNC patch to the server but for some reason, I keep getting error: Invalid hostname....

    I did reboot the server after I added the shares back but still does not work. Did this happen to anyone? Thank you.

    Sorry, that link above leads to the technet site Microsoft Internet Information Server 4.0 Security Checklist

    I just wanted to make my server more secure but I may have done something wrong coz I can't even access the server with an UNC path even after enabling my shares.

    It sounds like you may have applied the C2 level security fix for 'restricting null session access over named pipes', which (I think) can only be done prior to creating shares. If you check the following reg entry on this box and compare to another box you may find some difference:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters]
    "NullSessionShares"=hex(7):

    Where "hex(7):" = Restrict.

    Excellence is the result of caring more than others think is wise; risking more than others think is safe; daring more than others think is practical; and expecting more than others think is possible.
