    Serious problem accessing NT resources

    Hello everybody!
In lot of W9X clients, I have mapped some NT resources such as "X:\\servername\share" where applications must point to upload some files.
Working on it - random - I notice access denied in this share but exploring the same network resources from Network Neighbohrood I can access: therefore I can access into the share.
In the event viewer I notice "Event Id:529 - Logon failure: Unknonw user name or bad password.
I dont understand what was happening.
    Server is NT4.0 SP6
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
From the error msg, it means your server is not able to authenticate the user who is trying to logon.
You need to check user login information and also the permision grant for that user in the share directory.
    Rgds.

Yes, I know it, but this happens during a working session, past a successful user login: the user must be able to accessing shares in that server.
    Best regards.

Sometimes loggin on successfully does not guarantee that the user was successfully connected to the share also.

Check the user permission on that share. Or if the user is a member of some group that does not have access to that share.

Also this MS knowledgebase article might be useful: Q150530 http://support.microsoft.com/support.../Q150/5/30.asp
Event ID 529 Unknown User Name Or Bad Password

    regards
