Dual processor NT 4.0
My a dual processor mobo with a single PII processor, I run WinNT 4.0. If I was to add another processor to the system, do I have to reload OS or it will recognize the second processor? Would I see the difference in the performance? Does that apply to Win2000. Thanks.

What is your Hardware? Compaq Proliant? if so load the latest SSD's- choose the HAL upgrade/install (have CD & latest SP handy) Boot up, then down. Install the IDENTICAL second processor (model/step/ect...). boot again, check post screens- you should see both processors. if not, Do F10 and get into system properties.

there's an utility (don't remember how is called - from microsoft) that you run to promote NT work - server to use one or two processors- if you installed with one processor and then added the other one then you should run it - other way it's no problem for you.
