DVD RW + and - cannot do multi-session recording ?

    Hi,

I came across this problem a few days ago but was distracted with other immediate concerns from pposting here when the problem was first encountered. So it's a but hazy now, but hope I can give sufficient info here for your help.

I was using Windiws XP Pro with SP3 and he built-in CD/DVD Rom drive from the laptop with Nero 6 to burn my first DVD+RW and DVD-RW.

After burning the DVD+RW, it says something about creating a boarder (to close the disk ?? ) before the process was completed. The DVD works. But when I tried to add more files, it says the DVD does not have any more disc space left. I know the files I hd burnt on it are much less than the full capacity of the DVD.

When I checked the Nero software setting, it does not allow me to change Disc At Once or Track At Once. This option is greyed out. But the session was set to keep the DVD disc open for more addition of files later.

I then use the DVD-RW to burn and instead of stating it is creating a boarder or something similar....it says it is creating a Lead out or something. Again the burnt disk works, but again I cannot add more fiiles. Oh BTW, the files I burnt on this DVD-RW are different from those burnt on DVD+RW. So it could not be the files that's causing this.

Anyone know if this is the usual characteristic with RW disks ? I don't have this problem when using DVD-R. If this is not the normal characteristic of RW disks, any suggestions how I can overcome this before I start to mess about with more RW disk ?

    Many thanks.

Scroll down to the multi session articles.
    http://ftp6.nero.com/user_guides/ner...ingRom_Enu.pdf

Might want to save that PDF for future reference.

Thanks for the PDF link. But it this PDF only for Nero 6 ? Mine is Neor 6.6.1.4 and I can't make any of the setting, in particular anything related to multisession. The default which cannot be changed is that it allows further files to be added. But after the burnining, the disk is always full even when it is a small fiile.

Perhaps my version is not a full Nero version given that it comes with the laptop ?

Most of it will work as there is not much change in the how to do's, but in how Nero does its job.

As far as I checked things out, the pdf is good for my 6.6.0.16 .

If your version of Nero is crippled or corrupted in some way you may want to use CDburnerxp.. a very good and free burning program

Looks like my Nero may have been crippled or corrupted as Flink said. I'll try to get a copy of the disk to reinstall it and see how it comes out. I don't have the recovery disk for this laptop or any disk that comes with it. I

Fink - thanks. I'd still like to see if I can get Nero to work. But I will also have a look at the CDburnerXP. I think I have came across pretty good review of this before.
