My friend's computer keeps on reboot, in normal mode and safe mode. During safe mode, we can see it reboot right after loading the mup.sys.
Please help me to resolve this problem, thanks.

Run the disk diagnostic for your brand of disk drive (if you don't know what make it is run Seatools). Download UBCD and burn it to CD, it has all the disk testing utilities on it plus many more useful tools besides, then just boot with the disc in the drive and select the utility that you want.
Ultimate Boot CD

SuperSparks, I downloaded the UBCD iso file and did memory test, no error. I ran the DLG diagnosis and encounter missing dlgdiag5.bat error. I then downloaded and installed the dlgdiag for windows from WD into my laptop and hoop up the drive via an external SATA to USB adapter and now is under testing. Short test passed. Long test still has 1 hr to finish. I'll post the results later.
My drive is a WD 320GB, SATA drive.

I reconnect the hard drive to the system. Restart computer to safe mode. If stopped at mup.sys. I switched it off, remove all hard ware except video card and hard drive. Reboot normally.
It goes into the light blue screen for chkdsk. It reports 4K in bad sector in D: (hard drive has 2 partition: C is the system and D is data). It kept on booting up to Win successfully. I shut down normally and turn on again. It did the chkdsk again and boot to WinXp again.
Any thing I should do to ensure the system is OK or should I clone the system to other hard drive - but dlgdiag report no error.
Thanks for your advice.

Everything you are getting is consistent with this being a hard drive issue. Though those diagnostic utilities are often very good at spotting problems, they are not 100% foolproof, unfortunately If it were me, I think I'd be inclined to clone Windows to another disk.

Before reading your reply, I already installed the malwarebytes and ran it. It's because when I looked into the Task Mgr, the CPU usage is high (around 50% even the Sys Idle Process is almost 95%+. I suspected that it was infected.
So far, none is found and the scanning is on the way.
