    HERE'S A CHALLENGE FOR YOU!!!!

In my perfect world, I would like to hook up my:

    Atari 2600
    Atari 800
    Nintendo
    Super Nintendo

to some type of switchbox so that I can switch between all of them at will. What are the chances of something like this existing? It looks like all the outputs are the same type of plug (similar to an RCA), but not sure if they truly are RCA plugs. Any help would be great.

The problem is, ALL my game systems have only one output through what looks like an RCA connector at the end. There is not a separate output for audio L and R and video...it all goes through one cable. So in essence, I need a box that has ONLY 4 input jacks in the back and ONLY 1 output.

This is a passive device so if you just use the four "video" jacks as the inputs and ignore the audio inputs it will work fine using the single video output to connect to the tv. They are RCA connectors and it's called composite signal input/output.. that means that, as you already have observed, that video and audio are sent on the same single cable.

You might have to turn the volume down when you switch ... there may be an audio "pop" (or not)

The more expensive Sony model may not have an RCA output though but the others appear to and this one..

is specifically designed for composite and has a remote (although it's temp out of stock)

I thought "component" only related to the video signal (no split between Y-R) and not the combination of audio and video through the cable. If this will take both audio and video, awesome!!!

Now...I need to find out a connector between the S-video out of the box and the coaxial input of the TV.

Now there's part of the equation you didn't mention. S-vid will not carry audio... and RCA to coax adapters, though readily available may not work particularly well.

You need a switcher that has RCA in and RCA out as outlined above in my previous post (most of those above do). As for for the coax in on the tv-- that'll be a bit more of a question mark since that type of cabling/switching etc generally requires a connection/network of a different impedance. I'd assumed the tv was set to use RCA in since that was all that was mentioned.

To try to make it even more clear...

using one of the above switchers is just like having four RCA to RCA cables and replacing one with another each time you want to use a new game. If each game works individually into your tv then they all will work with one of the above units but you need to plug them in the same way you'd plug in the games individually. If they came with an RCA to RF/coax adaptor then they will all work, if not, no guarantees.

How did you plug each game into the tv individually?
