Browser hijack following activation of new modem?

Have just installed a new VirginMedia broadband modem to replace faulty old one. Called the freephone number for activation and was told to follow browser activation procedure after the necessary signals were sent to my new modem. Have done this and now I find that every time I open my browser it goes back to the VM broadband activation page: when I click on Next it tells me the procedure has already been completed and then it takes me to the VM home page even though my browser still has my normal home page set. Have purged browser history but to no effect. Logging on as a different user = no such problem; logging on as same user on a different PC again no problem. Is this a browser hijack as a result of the VM online activation?

Download HijackThis Executable from here. Save it to your desktop.
Start HJT & press the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. When the scan is finished a window will pop up giving you the option of where to save it. Save it to desktop where it is easy to access. Open the log file and then go to the format Tab and make sure that wordwrap is unchecked. Copy the entire contents of the file & paste it into the body of your post. DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET. Most of what is there is necessary for the running of your system.
