[RESOLVED] 7 Glitch
OK guys, I got a weird glitch here.
I have a new laptop running win7 home premium-64. As I was installing all of my programs I created a couple shortcuts for two of them on my desktop. I then had the shortcuts pinned to the quicklaunch toolbar, and I deleted the original shortcuts from my desktop...dragged them to the recycle bin.
Now, whenever I restart or log off/on these two shortcuts reappear on the desktop, and they rearrange all of my other desktop icons when it happens. I have removed them several times but they always reappear no matter how I delete them...very irritating
I've already checked my startup folder and they are not there.
I checked in the msconfig startup list and they are not in there either.
So, what do I have to do to get rid of these pesky, stubborn shortcuts?
Thanks...Randy

Right-click the Desktop, choose "personalise", then in the left-hand pane, click "Change desktop icons". See if they've ended up in there somehow.
Nick.

Nope. The only thing checked in there is the recycle bin. The "Allow themes to change desktop icons" box is checked.
Thanks SS...Randy

Problem solved. I finally figured out that it was one of my programs that I had just installed that was creating the icons.
I use Virtual CD, as I have several different CD's and DVD's that I need for my job, and I don't like switching discs all the time when I need a different one than is in the drive. Virtual CD works very well for me and I have been using it for years. But, since I just got a new computer with windows 7 on it I had to upgrade the program to the latest version, and the new version automatically creates icons for the drives on the desktop whenever a disc is inserted. I didn't know that it would do that, as the old version I was using never did.
Once I realized what was happening I went into the options and turned off that feature and now I have my desktop the way I want it.
Thanks for the help...Randy
