endless loop
Hi to all: Notebook Dell Insp E1405, Win XP Home in endless loop, reboots, then freezes on Dell logo screen. Boots okay in SAFE mode,no error message, etc in SAFE. Figue it's probably a virus or other nasty when normal boot is attempted. Did the last known good, and restore point (s), and no luck there. Suggestions? Figured to pull drive and strap to a good sysgtem and do the antimalware routine, depending on what's suggested here. Much thanks, Jim S

ok
Thanks for the fast note. Fooled around a bit, cleared all from startup in msconfig, and rebooted, just a hunch. Desktop came up in normal boot mode so went to work with onboard dr spysweeper. Initially found 210 nasties, 10 of which were classed a severe. Cleaned, and am still working on delousing the system. Thanks, Jim S Will follow your suggestions as well.
