Exclamation Desktop icons and taskbar are gone!

Hi I'm new here. And i just joined. Sorry abour not making the proper introduction before posting but I'm in a serious jam. The icons and taskbar are both gone snd no matter what I try, they won't come back. Is there anyone here who can help me? I've been working through the task manager and my parents are going to kill me when they find the computer like this, so please help me!

I'm going to guess XP for now.

Right click on the desktop and make sure "Arrange Icons by - Show desktop icons" is checked.

It's possible you just set the taskbar to autohide. Just move the mouse to the bottom (or wherever you put the taskbar) and let it hover for a second. Go to taskbar - properties and uncheck autohide the taskbar.

It might also help if you told us what you were doing just prior to the problem showing up.

Boy_wonder12--If XP, this should help (and perhaps before the parents come back)

See if this works first: Press Ctrl > Alt > Del to bring up the task manager. Click on File > New task. Type in explorer and click ok. See if that brings everything back. If not, a corrupt profile or a Virut infection can cause the same issue.
Bash him into the ground, make jokes and call him names while he's alive...Revere him when he dies. Pathetic.
