Did you enable simple file sharing on the XP system?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304040
Do you have any firewall apps?

I was having trouble accessing XP shared files, so I thought I should turn on Simple File Sharing; but I find that I now cannot even see the XP machine ...
So: should Simple File Sharing be turned ON or turned OFF?
TIA
Thanks!!! David

1. Don't hijack someone else's thread. Make a new one next time.
2. For home networks, Simple File Sharing is much easier so it should be ON. If you can't see the XP machine, I highly doubt that's because of Simple File Sharing.

So sorry ... I thought that proper forum netiquette was to NOT start a new thread on the same subject ...

Remove the Norton using the Norton Removal Tool from Symantec. Make sure your Vista network is set to "Home" or "Work", not public, and if it's AVG Pro, make sure the firewall is disabled.
This WILL work, I promise. Then, let it be a lesson to never install Norton again. Your computer will thank you.
Bash him into the ground, make jokes and call him names while he's alive...Revere him when he dies. Pathetic.
