Vista SP1 Problem
Hello
I have just downloaded and installed Vista SP1 on my laptop.
However when I got to the end and rebooted the laptop comes back on with the following message:
LogonUI.exe - Bad Image
C:\Windows\WinSxS\x86_microsoft.windows.gdiplus_6595b64144ccf1df_1.0.6001.18065_none_9e7abe2ec9c13222\gdiplus.dll is either
not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact
your system administrator or the software vendor for support.
It was working before the installation of SP1. I have tried to get in through Safe Mode and Last Known Good Configuration but the error keeps appearing.
If I click ok I am left with a black screen and a mouse pointer.
Can anyone help as I don't want to lose my documents.
Thanks

Many thanks for your reply.
I managed to remove SP1 using the "Repair Your Computer" option when pressing F8 on boot.
I have no idea why I had the problems with it, anyone have any clues?
I can use it at the moment without SP1 but obviously I would like to upgrade if I can.
Thanks

Check LogonUI.exe location. It should be located in C:\Windows\Sytem32
If it's located somewhere else, post other locations.
Open command prompt, and run this command:
regsvr32 gdiplus.dll

Have you customised the login screen at all (e.g. using some utility to change the background picture)? Some methods of doing that sort of thing can cause this sort of breakage when you apply a service pack -- you end up using an old version of the modified file with an upgraded system.
Safe computing is a habit, not a toolkit.

Perhaps you have one of those 'quirky' systems that wont install SP1,like me,SP1 completely messed up my PC,without Acronis I would have been in real trouble.
