Password
An elderly neighbor has a Laptop, he bought it new 3/4 years ago. He never put in a "Password" as a user, no one else has had access to it. Now after he turns it on it requests a 'password'. After awhile, he took it somewhere for repair and they removed the hard drive, so they say, and with the HD removed it still requested a "Password". I find this unbelieveable, am I wrong ?
Sorry I don't have more details. TIA ChiefE7

If it shows up before the windows screen, then it is in the BIOS.
They failed to fix it.

how does it ask for the password, before the windows logo loading or after?
before: they couldn't do it. sometimes its possible sometimes its not but for 3 year old I can def do it even I am not a repair shop.
after: very easy, but I am sure they could've done it.
