Well first you have to make sure that the cat5 port to the hi speed modem is connected to the modem and not your computer.
Second, make sure your computer is connected to either one of the 4 router ports to your network card on your pc.
Once its connected, reboot your machine, when its back up, unplug your modem for about a minute and then reconnect it, do the same to the power of the wireless router. In a standard configuration this should get you up and running.
