When I open the Outlook Express Inbox I used to see the user name Main Identity. I decided to change this to my real name to replace the Main Identity name. I made the change and now my name isn't showing up and Main Identity is also missing. How can I add my name back to the header where Main Identity used to appear?
What method did you use to change this? The .dbx files location is usually affected when this is done. You may either have to check and edit the registry entries for Outlook Express to fix this, or create a new Identity and associate the appropriate files.
I just went into Manage Identities. I added a new one and deleted the one that said Main Identity. Under the new identity my name does not appear on the Inbox line at the top. It's not a big deal. I was just wondering how to put my name back up top. That way, if I add any more identities in the future I will be able to tell who's identity I am in.
I have attached a screenshot of what I am trying to change. If you notice to the right side of my screenshot on the Inbox line you will see the profile name of Bill Hart.
That is where the profile name should be showing up. That line is blank for this particular profile I am having the problem with. I am trying to figure out how to add this person's profile name onto that line. I am pretty sure there is some registry edit that will fix this.
Actually, if the name is not there, you may have to just look for Outlook Express entries in the Registry. I'll see if I can find out which entry you need to change by looking on one of my PC's.
Just figured it out. In order for Outlook Express (version 6) to display the name on the Inbox line, (and in other various places), you must have more than one Identity setup ... even if you will never use the 'other' identity.
This computer does only have 1 identity set up. Maybe I can add a second identity so that the first displays the user name and then go back and delete the second identity later.
