    A similar problem exists with passwords. The most widely used "cracker" scans the page file for character strings and tries each as a password. Since a password is temporarily stored in the clear when you use it, it will often be stored in virtual memory.

    My rule of thumb is "anyone who has physical access to my computer has access to all data on it".
