    Memory not posting

just purchased a Mobo from Intel.. model # is BOXDG965RYCK and OCZ26671024V 1gb memory from OCZ technologies.. but when i have it in the motherboard and boot up.. all the fans/lights turn on but the monitor doesnt and there arent any beeps. Now before we start trying to figure this out i did call intel and they told me that there is a list of tested memory on their website. I went there and check it out but this model was not there.. there were only a few different models that they tested.. now both the motherboard and ram are 1.8V so that isnt it.. and they both have the same timings 5-5-5... so should i just buy ram that is already tested or is there something i can do? thanks in advance for any help

I would clear the CMOS first before trying anything else.

Odds are that it isn't the ram...Seems like no video is the #1 problem with new builds.

You'll need to tripple check the power switch cables and make sure the mobo isn't grounded.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

not sure what u mean by grounded, but i checked all the connections and everything looks fine.. now on the power switch cables, does it matter what side i put them on.. what is the positive and negative.. they each have a color and a white.. are the whites the positive?

Make sure the mobo is not touching the case, and is screwed down properly, if need be you could remove it and place it on a piece of cardboard and try and boot in the same way.

Double-check the graphics card, as it performs its own POST before anything else, Steve is correct that it is the most obvious here.

It doesn't matter which way round you connect the power, reset or speaker connectors. Only the LED's are polarity sensitive.

OCZ is top-quality RAM, but looking at the specs it's 667MHz while the mobo is 800/1066MHz. There might be a problem with the RAM being too slow for the mobo.

FWIW, OCZ RAM is already tested. I've read that they buy only the best 1% or so of the RAM their suppliers manufacture, then test it again before they put their name on it. Some time back, their PC2100 RAM was so good and would overclock so far it was marketed and sold by retailers as PC2400. I have a gig of that in a computer here and it's first-rate stuff.

nah.. it can take the 667MHz, 800/1066MHz is where it tops out.. i spoke with a intel tech support rep today and he said that everything i described sounds like a memory issue.. i will look into seeing if the mobo is grounded like steve suggested as soon as i get home 1am eastern time.. but if anybody has any other solutions to throw at me, please keep them coming

where did you see that OCZ is tested for my mobo?

Where'd you get that from? I said:

It's not tested for any specific board; it's tested before it's sold. Period. Just as Lincoln test-drives every car they sell before they're shipped to the dealers. They're not test-driven for any specific dealer or owner.

sorry for the confusion but intel has a list of known RAM that they tested for this specific board (aka DG965RY)

okay.. so im home now.. i put the motherboard on a large piece of cardboard, made sure nothing metallic was touching it.. reset the batter for the cmos, and then connected the Memory, hdd, power and thats it.. still same results.. no beep, no video, i purchased crucial RAM (was on Intels tested memory list) and it should be here in a few days.. i guess then i will know if it was the memory or the Mobo.. wish me luck.. any other suggestion are kindly appreciated
