modify file right click context menu
When I right click files, depending upon the file types I get several items in the context menu and its constantly growing. While softwares like winrar do give option while installing, most dont. so, where is that option hiding in win xp so that I can tweak which items to show in context menu and make it less confusing..
thanks !

If you just want to get rid of all of those entries you have two easy choices. As it is right now just right click the entry and delete (I prefer to move them all into a folder (drag and drop) in case I need them again some day to open or deal with a program listed there) or you can right click your taskbar select properties, start menu and customize/advanced then manipulate the entries there (windows explorer) with ease.

What I meant is something different.
There are some Programs ie. Virtualdub, rapidget, metapad which dont install but just have exe files. I want to place them. One option is that first I pin them start menu and then drag them to programs. It would work. But, if I want to put them straight from its location in my hdd to the programs, it wont work. So, I guess there is this folder somewhere which stores all the entries which show up in the program menu display.
Thats what I am looking for.

I didn't get that...
If you right click Start>Explore>Programs and then place Shortcuts in there it won't work?

ShellExView is a nice (free) program that can help control the context menu. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html (I recommend disabling extensions versus removal in case you change your mind. )
