Windows Media Player 10 Freezes in IE6 but not Firefox

When I use Windows Media Player 10 to view an MPEG in Internet Explorer the video freezes but the sound keeps playing. It's as if I hit the Pause button for the video except the sound keeps playing. However, If I try to view the same video with Windows Media Player in Firefox it plays fine. I am running Windows XP Pro.

Solution: Stop using IE.

All kidding aside, it sounds like a corrupted IE install. You might try uninstalling it, then starting over with a clean install and see if that cures it. I'm assuming the default association for MPEGs in your system is WMP; check that too.
